AFD-GDN Biodiversity & Development Awards - Program Events

19- 23 April 2021 | Research Lab

Twenty-two shortlisted research teams working on biodiversity mainstreaming in the global South, from Peru to Fiji, took part in this five-day research lab. The event helped shape compelling social science research questions on biodiversity mainstreaming, and explore collaborations. It was part of the selection process of the AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Award, jointly launched with the French Development Agency (AFD), which will assign seven 24-month grants. Winners will be announced in early June, after the review of reworked proposals by the program's Scientific Committee. The lab featured a public talk by Professor Marie Stenseke (watch video | see more details), focused on the role of social science in making peace with nature, and a policy panel opened by Ms. Elizabeth Maruma Mrema (watch video), Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, UNCBD. See the full playlist of speakers at the lab.
