Centre for Economic Research and Graduate Education-Economics Institute (CERGE-EI)

Area represented: Central and Eastern Europe

CERGE-EI is a joint workplace of The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education (CERGE) of Charles University, Prague and the Economics Institute (EI) of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It offers graduate degrees in economics to students from the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe and emerging market economies throughout the world. Its research arm focuses on theoretical and applied economics in public-policy areas related to development and transition.

East Asian Development Network (EADN)

The East Asian Development Network (EADN) is a network of research institutes, centers and think tanks in the developing countries of East Asia aimed at research capacity building and research policy networking. Founded in 1998, its mission is to strengthen the capacity of research institutions and individual researchers to undertake high quality, development-focused and policy-relevant research in the social sciences, that can be used in policy analysis, debates and inputs at the regional and national levels.

The Economic Research Forum (ERF) is a regional network dedicated to promoting high quality economic research to contribute to sustainable development in the Arab countries, Iran and Turkey. Established in 1993, ERF's core objectives are to build strong research capacity in the ERF region; to lead and support the production of independent, high quality economic research; and to disseminate research output to a wide and diverse audience.

Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC)

Area represented: Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)

The Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC) was created in 1995 to strengthen economics education and research capabilities in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Managed by a Kiev-based secretariat, EERC's research network supports original policy-relevant studies, organizes training seminars and research workshops, links academics and policymakers, and invests in the virtual research infrastructure – access to scholarly literature, data and peers.

European Development Research Network (EUDN)

Area represented: Western Europe

The European Development Research Network (EUDN), founded in 2000, links members of different development research institutions, particularly in the field of development economics, from Europe with the rest of the world. Its objectives are: create the exchange of ideas between academics and researchers working on development issues and policymakers; reinforce links between academics and researchers working on development issues in Europe; and train young reseachers in development economics through its PhD school, workshops and student exchange programs.

GDN-Japan

Area represented: Asia Pacific

GDN-Japan is hosted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Research Institute, its hub institution, in Tokyo. As a network located in a developed country it makes contributions by dispatching resource persons to networks in developing countries. Its objectives are: increased access to development-related information, resources and knowledge of Japan; greater information dissemination from Japan; creation of new development knowledge; and knowledge assistance on development from Japan.

Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA)

Area represented: Latin America and the Caribbean

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association was founded in July 1992, to encourage greater professional interaction and foster increased dialogue among researchers and practitioners whose work focuses on the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean. Since its inception LACEA has grown to an organization with an annual average of 1000 active members.

Oceania Development Network (ODN)

Area represented: South Pacific

The Oceania Development Network (ODN) was created in 2002 to provide a platform for researchers in the South Pacific region to interact with each other, share knowledge and skills to foster team research, and build and update regional databases. The network identifies contemporary issues that underpin the development agenda of the Island states and carries out research and organizes conferences geared at developing and refining policies.

 

South Asia Network of Economic Research Institutes (SANEI)

Area represented: South Asia

The South Asia Network of Economic Research Institutes (SANEI) is a regional initiative to foster networking amongst economic research institutions in South Asia. Founded in 1998, it is registered as a non-profit economic research society and was granted the status of a SAARC Recognized Body in February 2011. The Network works to establish strong research interlinkages among diverse economic research institutes in the South Asian region.
