WHAT
GDN's 14th Annual Global Development Conference focused on 'Inequality, Social Protection and Inclusive Growth.' Read the Conference Overview.
Issues related to social protection are crucial in view of growing inequality in the developing world. There is a growing consciousness of the benefits of social protection as a measure to protect people from becoming trapped in poverty, and to accelerate growth. Yet, we need to know more about the mechanisms and the channels through which social protection and social policy in general affect the most vulnerable in the developing world (and beyond). The GDN conference focused on these important issues, showcasing quality, local research to highlight findings that can be used in policymaking aimed at the reduction of inequality through social protection and inclusive growth.
