Daniele Cantini

Daniele is a Fellow of the Knowledge Systems program at the Global Development Network. He is currently responsible for the Doing Research Assessment in Tunisia, and is running the expansion of GDN’s Doing Research global initiative in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. He is currently based in Germany, where he is also affiliated researcher at the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient.

He is a social anthropologist (PhD Modena, Italy 2006) who worked in different Middle East countries (mostly Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon) since 2001. He researches youth and subjectivity, higher education and the institutional dimension of critique, doctoral studies and the production of knowledge, printed media, religion and migration. Previously, he taught in Germany and Italy, held research positions in Egypt, Germany, Lebanon, and Switzerland, participated in research projects in Italy and in the United States, and led research projects in Germany and Italy.
