Habibul Haque Khondker, BA, MA (Dhaka), MA (Carleton), and PhD (Pittsburgh) is professor of Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, UAE and co-President of Research Committee 9 (Social Transformations and Sociology of Development) of the International Sociological Association. Khondker is the co-editor of Covid-19 and Governance (Routledge, 2021) with H. Lim and Jan Nederveen Pieterse. He co-authored Globalization: East/West (Sage, 2010) with Bryan Turner. He co-edited Asia and Europe in Globalization: Continents, Regions, and Nations (Brill 2006) with Goran Therborn. He also co-edited 21st Century Globalization: Perspectives from the Gulf (Dubai and Abu Dhabi: Zayed University Press, 2010) with Jan Nederveen Pieterse. He has also published articles on globalization, glocalization, migration governance, state and secularism, nationalism, and various development issues in such international journals as International Sociology, International Sociology Review, Protosociology, The British Journal of Sociology, Current Sociology, International Migration, Globalizations, Armed Forces and Society, Asian Journal of Social Sciences, South Asia among others. He is on the editorial board of several international journals. Khondker contributes op-eds on current issues to the English dailies in Bangladesh.
