Cristian Popa is the Former Vice President and Management Committee member, European Investment Bank, Luxembourg and Former Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Romania (NBR), member of the Board of Administrators of the NBR, and Vice-President of the NBR Monetary Policy, Supervision, Euro Adoption, and Participation in EU Structures Committees. In his previous position, he coordinated monetary policy, research, forecasting, international relations and financial stability. He also served as World Bank Alternate Governor for Romania, as member of the ECB International Relations Committee and Economic and Financial Committee, and as alternate member of the ECB General Council. He is on the editorial boards of the Romanian Journal of European Affairs and Oeconomica and was a Board Member of the New Europe College, Bucharest, from 2006-14. The author of numerous research papers focusing on emerging and developed market economies, Cristian Popa was a Fulbright fellow with Harvard University (1994-5) and has lectured at leading universities including the London School of Economics and the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).
