Communications Intern – Terms of Reference

The Global Development Network (GDN) is public international organization that supports high quality, policy oriented, social science research in developing and transition countries to promote better lives. GDN will engage a Communications Intern interested in developing their communications management skills in an organisation that works in the “research for development” space, to provide assistance to the Communications Unit, based in New Delhi.

Key Tasks

The communications intern will assist with the following ongoing tasks

a) Curating GDN studies and other assets for placement on GDN’s new website – 80%

b) Assisting with the overall development of GDN’s new website – 10%

c) Assisting the Head of Communications with ongoing tasks – 10%

The communications intern must work in close association with the Head of Communications at all times during the internship, seeking to collaborate with others in the office under supervision. He or she must have excellent English writing skills in particular, as well as demonstrate high initiative, be a quick learner, and have an inherent drive for results. He or she must have a high degree of flexibility, energy and creativity.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Continuing or recently completed graduate or undergraduate studies in social studies, development, journalism, media or a related discipline.
  • Experience/education in writing for the web is a plus.
  • Website management skills (internet research, blogging, managing simple cms)

Key Skills – [to be tested]

  • High level English writing skills.
  • Computer Skills: typing and the use of simple web software

Additional information

This internship is located in India. It is open to Indian nationals only. Those interested in international development, research, and communications will find this a fulfilling learning opportunity.

This is a paid internship for a period of 6 months, starting as soon as possible, with a compensation of INR 10,000-15,000 per month. It will be a full-time assignment (8 hours per day).
