Winners Announced: KOICA Development Research Award 2014

The Global Development Network (GDN) is proud to announce the winners of the KOICA Development Research Award 2014. The six winners successfully explored the relevance of Korea’s development experience for developing countries. The contest, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and administered by GDN, identifies and recognizes research papers engaging in promising growth studies that investigate the salient features of Korea’s development experience and prospects for developing countries. Over 180 submissions from 41 countries were received for the inaugural round of the competition. The contest was judged by an eminent jury through a multi-stage review process.

The first prize winner will receive US$8,000, the second prize winner US$6,000, and the third prize winner will receive US$4,000.  In addition, three special prizes recognize the contributions of the best submissions in the theme from the 26 Priority Partner Countries of the Korean Government, from young researchers and from women researchers. The winners will be felicitated at the Prize Distribution Ceremony to be held in Seoul, South Korea in September 2014. Winners were invited to attend the Prize Distribution Ceremony in Seoul, South Korea on 19 September 2014 which was followed by a two-day field visit in South Korea.
