Book Launch – Southern Engines of Global Growth and The Rise of China and India

Arising from the UNU-WIDER research project 'Southern Engines of Global Growth', the two volumes being launched contain studies that use a wealth of data. Southern Engines of Global Growth analyzes the successful experiences of Brazil and South Africa, and provides insights to other countries pursuing sustainable growth and development strategies. The Rise of China and India examines the rapid reshaping of the world economy with the rise of the two Southern giants and the far-reaching implications for every national and regional government, business community, and individual citizen.

Presentation and discussion of the OECD Development Centre’s research Perspectives on Global Development: Shifting Wealth

Shifting Wealth examines the major realignment of the global economy that has taken place in the last two decades. Economic and political power has been shifting towards the developing world and emerging economies due to high and sustained growth rates in large developing countries. Furthermore, flows of trade, aid and investment between developing countries have all intensified. Perspectives on Global Development analyzes the evidence which documents this shift and assesses what it means for global development.

GDN's Post-2015 MDG Consultation aimed at providing the High Level Panel of Eminent Persons appointed by the UN with the academic perspective from the South. The deliberations delved on the current scenario "Where we are now? What has been achieved under the current MDG framework? What is still missing?" as well as formulated forward-looking concrete proposals on "Where do we go from here? Setting the post-2015 development agenda."
