RECENTLY COMPLETED PROGRAMS
The Global Development Network recently completed a range of programs, born of a competitive grant program known as the Global Research Competition, which provides early career social science researchers from developing and transition countries with a platform to investigate international development challengess through collaborative, cross-country or inter-regional research. The winning research teams receive expert guidance during their grant cycle, apart from financial support of upt o US$ 32,000. The research usually spanned a period of 18 months.
These recently completed projects include:
Inter-regional Research Projects (IRP) The program encouraged the exchange of expertise between researchers from different regions, to diffuse knowledge across regional borders, foster South-South collaboration more broadly and develop long-term partnerships for research projects between researchers across regions.
Financial Inclusion and Microfinance in Latin American and Caribbean Nations This programm conducted systematic research in order to addresses the fundamental issues related to financial inclusion and the role of micro credit instruments in the overall development of the economy and welfare state in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Strengthening Institutions to Improve Public Expenditure Accountability This program built the capacity of participating developing country organizations to monitor and analyze public expenditure choices and processes, and to engage constructively with policy officials on various policy options in the three sectors of health, education and water.
Supporting Policy Research to Inform Agricultural Policy in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia This program aimed to help shape North-South and South-South debates on agricultural policies, and to find innovative ways to close the research and policy gap.
Urbanization and Development: Delving Deeper into the Nexus This program provided research grants to support comparative and systematic research to address fundamental issues on urbanization and development.
Varieties of Governance: Effective Public Service Delivery This program explored the role of formal and informal institutions, at both country and sector level, in the effectiveness (or lack) of public service delivery in the areas of basic education, water supply and transport infrastructure (roads).
Indonesian project partner at PRSCO 2013
Indonesian project partner participated in PRSCO 2013 held on 2-4 July, Bandung. The partner shared insights from the research study which focused on the impact of decentralization and corruption on road infrastructure development in Indonesia. Know more. Read paper.
